Review:
My favorite movie of all time. This was a defective part of the work of Coppola and seeing the documentary Heart of Darkness became more compelling. Coppola at this point was the king of Hollywood after making The Godfather and GodfatherII and had developed the ego necessary to dare to try to make a movie like Apocalypse Now. For sheer arrogance go to the Philippines with partial write and think we know what to do when they got there. As Captain Willard thought he knew what to do once you reach Colonel Kurtz compound. And Willard, did not know what he would do once he got there. This is a masterpiece of American cinema, beautifully photographed and the river is a perfect metaphor for the history and background. What I like in Apocalypse Now is not offering answers or conclusions. Therefore, because of this openness, which infuriates some viewers who like their movies to be much more evident. This film defies categorization. Some call it a war movie at all, it really is a personal study of man. The best group photo at Vietnam's my opinion and if viewers are looking to count the Vietnam War go there first for answers. Coppola should be praised for his opinion on the war bureaucracy is more efficient and Gen.Corman meeting with Lucas (Harrison Ford) and reviewing girlfriend. The audacity of Kilgore unforgettable characters he does and always will be the dawn attack cruise classic.It Hollywood is just very surreal psychedelic almost making the film not is accessible to everyone. Difficult but rewarding to see too. I offer my explanations in each scene, but totally useless. This film is intended for interpretation and immediate contemplation against gratification.A little note, of course, if your first time viewer of Apocalypse Now, watch the original first, the Redux version is, I think, led to more fanatical and more a curiosity than a new and improved version of the film
