Review:
John Hawkes continues to amaze his chameleon-like embodiment of unusual characters. This time plays Marc Obrien, 36 polio victim who spent years living its horizontal iron lungs. Based on a true story, Obrien is a romantic poet, who has never had sexual experience. After consulting with his priest (William H. Macy father perfectly embodies the radical Berkeley), contact therapist and hangs up the sexual compensation, Helen Hunt. Their meeting is the heart of this film competition, and take the audience on a journey of self-discovery and discovery Marc. Hawkes is simply amazing. He infuses the character with innocence, hope and wry humor in what can only be described as a tour de exercise of power. Hunt is equally skilled at its task, combining professionalism, playfulness, sensuality, and compassion in a series of meetings that require full nudity. Both players are brave in their search for truth and humanity and get Oscar caliber performances, thanks to the sensitive guidance of writer / director Ben Lewin.
