Review:
Ill state of my beliefs up front: I'm a chick. I read X-Men comics in my past, but its been years. I can not remember every detail of every relationship and back story, so it's not a big X-Men Expert. I like the original X-Men film and X2.I was so excited when I heard they Wolverine movie offered. He and Gambit were my two favorite characters from the comics, Wolverine is by far the best written and one of the best acting of the characters in the X-Men franchise. I thought, it must be good! I count down the days until we leave. And I went to the theater, hoping for did not disappoint, but was very excited. It is a middle-of-the-road movie, which seems to know what it is to be. However, I would go see if you X-Men or Hugh Jackman fan.The great crime in Wolverine writing. I always tell writers do not get the loan at a good enough film. But no amount of good acting (almost all of Wolverine work well with what they deliver) and ok direction can mask the crappy writing. The script is all over the place. She the cheerful yet edgy feel of the first two X-Men movies. Wolverines wisecracks and smart savvy, but they are all forgotten. It wouldve maybe it's OK if you have decided that Wolverine dark, almost evil character who is supposed to be before he lost his memory. But they did not. He was not good or bad. This is ambivalent Wolverine. Kind of Emo Wolverine. Not to do bad, but not really in it because it is a bad feeling. No really interesting lines or plot points either way. Writers did not even seem to know how to develop the relationship between Wolverine and Sabertooth. A love story sits in the studio just to satisfy our chickens would not go see a cartoon without him? If so, the studio has done us great harm, because if you wanted a story about Wolverine lover (which, hey, I want to see it), this movie was not so. And when I saw that in the trailer gambit was in the movie, I was excited! Gambit in the movie, at the end! But here he is, underdeveloped and kind of confusing gambit. He could at least have had his New Orleans accent? The maps are great, but he is grossly inadequate and do not feel like gambit much.The film does have some good moments in it where you can actually say, yes! I am not spoilers, so I will not say what it is, but for me, they have a movie worth watching. Although I would not put it anywhere on my worst movie list, I would rank it with the X-Men and X2 on my list of favorites.
